SPOTLIGHT: Yak Ballz Knows How To Find His Fans’ Inboxes

July 27th, 2011 | Spotlight

For the readers that are into underground hiphop, Yak Ballz, a rapper from Queens, must not be unfamiliar.

As one of the original members of underground ‘supergroup’ The Weathermen (with El-P and others), he has achieved somewhat of a legendary status in the underground hiphop scene.

Yak Ballz has been using our tools to their full potential, so we’re proud to present these highlights!

The coolest feature on the site must be the download page, where fans and curious visitors are greeted by 9 of our embedded players.

As you can see above, some of the downloads have our email capture feature enabled, which means you can let fans exchange their email address for a free download, so that you can grow your mailinglist or be able to geo-target specific fans when you’re touring through their area.

What’s also cool is how well-customized the players are, so that they fit in perfectly with the page. For example in the case of this ‘small player’ (click the image to visit the page and see how well-integrated it is):

The cool thing about these players is that not only do they let you offer unlimited free downloads, in exchange for an email address (or not), but they also track statistics, so that you can get a more advanced insights about the people listening to your tracks… whether on your website, through social networks, blogs or anywhere else on the web.
